JBU Art Student Announces Senior Gallery

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (Sept. 30, 2026) – The visual arts department of John Brown University invites the community to the opening reception of Jessica Lemos’ senior gallery “Ezer” on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m., on the second floor of the Windgate Visual Arts East building at JBU. 

In her gallery, Lemos, a graphic design and photography major, explores themes of girlhood, sexism and connection through photography, mixed media collage/graphic design and digital illustration.

“My gallery revolves around three separate stages of girlhood and womanhood through the personal lens of my experiences, what I have seen in the lives of women I know and moments that are relatable to nearly every woman,” Lemos said.

The title of her gallery comes from the Hebrew word “ezer,” which God uses to refer to women in the book of Genesis. The word is a combination of two root words, meaning “to rescue or save” and “to be strong.”

As part of her gallery, Lemos said she is collecting donations of new dolls for guests to take for a girl in their life or for the little girl inside of them.

The gallery runs until Oct. 25 and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekend visits are available by request by emailing Lemos at lemosj@jbu.edu.

The opening reception is free and will include a print sale.
