JBU Features Celebrated Pastel Artists in “Stokes of Genius” Exhibit
SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. (Nov. 3, 2015) – The JBU Department of Visual Arts presents “Strokes of Genius: JBU Pastel Invitational Exhibit” featuring the artwork of some of North America’s most celebrated pastel artists and International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) Master Circle Recipients.
“This truly is a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition,” said Charles Peer, gallery director for the JBU department of visual arts. “The collective list of awards, accomplishments and credentials of these eight pastel artists is staggering.”
The exhibit will include artwork by Marla Baggetta, Terri Ford, Andrew McDermott, Sally Strand, Debora Stewart, Liz Haywood-Sullivan, Christine Swann and Kari Tirrell.
“These paintings reflect the talent that has placed them in the top tier of the pastel world and features an extremely diverse range of subject matters and techniques. We are so grateful for the generosity of each artist to allow JBU to present this collection,” said Peer.
The exhibit will open with a reception on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 6-7:30 p.m. in the Windgate Visual Arts West building on JBU’s Siloam Springs campus and will be on display Nov. 6 - Dec. 15. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 p.m., or by special arrangement. The reception is free and open to the public.
