Kristen Smith graduated from JBU with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cross-Cultural Services. She went on to join Latin American Mission and served as a church-planting missionary in Southern Spain. She met her husband, Argle, while attending a bilingual church in Rota, Spain and they have been married for 18 years. Upon returning to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, they served as the Missionaries in Residence for the school year of 2004-2005. Kristen later felt called into the mental health field and started working at a local mental health agency, Ozark Guidance Center where she worked for six years. During this time, she completed her Masters of Community Counseling at JBU. She went on to work at the John Brown University Care Clinic as the supervisor for the student interns, in addition to seeing clients, and teaching adjunct. She had the privilege of teaching adjunct with the Graduate Counseling Department for ten years their Practicum and Social and Cultural Foundations classes.


Kristen and her husband answered God's call back to Southern Spain and were there as missionaries from 2014 until 2020. They served the local churches through assisting with evangelism, preaching, teaching, Bible studies, lay counseling, and youth training. Since, returning from the mission field Kristen has been working at Oaks Counseling Center as a counselor and teaching adjunct with the Biblical Studies department their Intercultural Communication class. Kristen has a passion to see the next generation of students be well-equipped to reach the nations for Christ both internationally and domestically.
