Dr. Iván Iglesias, a native of Colombia, South America, completed his Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages (Spanish, English and French) at Universidad del Atlántico in Barranquilla, his home city. He was then awarded a scholarship to continue his education at the University of Arkansas, where he obtained his Master of Arts in Spanish Literature in 2002. He earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Iglesias’ research interests include the theme of contemporary forms of neoliberal violence in Latin America reflected through the literature and film of the last three decades with special emphasis in Colombia and Mexico. He has published in the field of poetry. In his poems, his obsession with the passing of time and the theme of Death is clearly seen.

Dr. Iglesias was recognized by the Governor of Arkansas as an "Arkansas Traveler," an award given to those with distinguished accomplishments who have served as "ambassadors" for the state of Arkansas.

Dr. Iglesias is married to Star, and they have two sons: Christian and Noah.
