Dr. Song grew up in the U.S. and Korea and is a CQ® (cultural intelligence) certified facilitator. He served as an Air Defense Artillery Officer in the Republic of Korea Army. Dr. Song has a Ph.D. in electrical & computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and his M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He serves as Vice President of the Christian Engineering Society and as a member of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities Diversity and Inclusion Commission.
Honors Scholars Program Director, Professor of History
Dr. Posey received a B.A. in History from Grand Canyon University and a Ph.D. in American History at the University of Maryland. She finished her M.Phil in Canterbury, England. Her interests include the relationship between religion and reform, the history of slavery in the United States, as well as the enduring legacy of racism left by slavery. More recently, she has begun researching and writing on Christian higher education in Africa and has led faculty workshops on faith integration at Uganda Christian University.
Chair, Teacher Education and Graduate Education & Assistant Professor of Teacher Education
Dr. Cunningham holds a B.S in Elementary Education with emphasis in Early Childhood from Southwest Baptist University, a M.Ed. with emphasis in Gifted Education from Drury University and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Gifted Education from the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville. At JBU, he is responsible for teaching classes on classroom management, curriculum design, differentiated instruction and human development.
Assistant Professor of Visual Arts
As a visual storyteller and the child of an Oklahoma farm, Mrs. Shaw tills the rich soil of dichotomy through her masterful uses of color, iconography and story. As a Chickasaw-Choctaw artist, she creates in a state of tension, suspended between two worlds where both solemnity and humor pervade her art. She earned her BFA in studio art from Baylor University and her MFA from the University of Oklahoma. She is Assistant Professor of Visual Arts at JBU, an international speaker and a featured artist in Visual Voices: Contemporary Chickasaw Art, among other exhibits in the U.S.
Assistant Professor of Counseling - Core Faculty
Dr. Okai is a Licensed Professional Counselor holding specializations in supervision and technology-assisted counseling/supervision. He received his M.S. in MFT from Harding University and completed his Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision at Regent University VA. He is a member of the American Counseling Association and a reviewer of conference papers for the American Society for Engineering Education. He has worked in various professional clinical settings including outpatient, inpatient, residential facilities, church-based and private practice.
