Kristy Burton began her career working in law enforcement after earning an undergraduate degree from Harding University in criminal justice in 2001. She spent over 15 years working as a law enforcement officer and instructor for both Arkansas Community Corrections and U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services. During this time, she also earned a master's degree in community counseling at John Brown University, graduating in 2013. She completed her PhD in counselor education and supervision with a specialization in addictions at the University of the Cumberlands in 2023. She is the owner of Central Arkansas Group Counseling (dba Arkansas Counseling & Wellness Services), a private practice in Arkansas. She is also the President of the Arkansas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Vice President of the Arkansas Addiction Professionals Association, and a board member for the Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board.
