Dr. Cowell is a fully licensed counselor and supervisor in Arkansas. He has served clients full-time in the past and still counsels in his private practice. His current research is focused on counselor-in-training (CIT) disposition which will assist counselor educators to define, assess, and manage CIT disposition.

Dr. Cowell has Psi Chi Honors, is a Graduate Fellow with JBU's Center for Healthy Relationships, and holds a Benjamin Level Fellowship with the University of Arkansas. He is also a member of the American Counseling Association and the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology.

Dr. Cowell teaches a variety of courses, including Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Theory, Ethics, Statistics, and Clinical work. His goal when teaching is to empower learners to take charge of their own education. He works to provide the most current materials in the field and encourages lots of discussion. Dr. Cowell hopes his classes assist in personal growth, as well as, promotion of  professional excellence.
