Prior to his time at JBU, Dr. Gwinn worked largely in community-based family life education programs. He previously held a parent educator license for Minnesota’s Early Childhood Family Education program, while also coordinating a relationship education program for Somali refugees in Minneapolis. He worked in Washington, DC, at the central office for the first National Healthy Marriage Resource Center grant. And he was the project manager for the Healthy Marriage Project of SW Missouri, a federally funded project at the School of Professional Psychology at Forest Institute in Springfield, MO.

In 2012, Dr. Gwinn joined the Center for Healthy Relationships, engaging in program delivery as part of a federally funded project at JBU. He has continued to provide family life education in NW Arkansas and NE Oklahoma, engaging with communities from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, such as, members of the Creek Nation in Oklahoma, parents and couples in community settings, residents of recovery and transitional programs, and individuals incarcerated by the criminal justice system.

Additionally, Dr. Gwinn teaches undergraduate courses related to healthy marriages, relationships and families. He is a Certified Family Life Educator through the National Council on Family Relations.
