Admission requirements

JBU offers test-optional admission and considers all applications. You don’t need an ACT or SAT score to apply.

If you do not meet the requirements below, you may petition for admission. Your admissions counselor will guide you through the petition process if it's needed.

Admission requirements for first-time college students

Admission is offered to first-time-college students with at least a 2.0 high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or a GED.

Admission requirements for transfer students

Students with 6 to 24 hours of transferrable college credit are offered admission if they have a 2.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

Students with 25 to 84 hours of transferrable college credit are offered admission if they have a 2.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

Am I transfer student?

  • Have you completed high school or earned your GED?
  • Have you enrolled at a college or university for at least one term?
  • By the time you enroll at JBU, will you have earned 6 or more hours of college credit?

You're considered a transfer student if you answered "yes" to all of those questions.

Will my credit transfer?

What courses can I transfer to JBU? I have an associate degree; does that count toward JBU's core curriculum requirements? Does JBU offer credit for prior learning (CPL)? Get answers to these and other questions regarding the transfer of credit to JBU.

Can I take courses as a non-degree-seeking student?

Yes, students wishing to enroll at the university without pursuing a degree should indicate this on the application form. Applicants may be asked to submit additional academic information, such as transcripts. Credit earned as a non-degree student may count toward a degree only after students reapply and are accepted for admission under regular student status. The reapplication process will include all relevant transcripts and other materials.
