With the strong growth in JBU’s nursing and computer science programs, the university is expanding the Health Education Building as part of the Steadfast Faith Campaign.
The university will add a new two-story wing to the Health Education Building. Currently, JBU plans to finish out the first floor of the building, approximately 7,500 square feet, to provide nursing and computer science programs with additional computer lab space, classrooms, upgraded simulation equipment and office space for faculty.
The second floor will be left as an open shell, allowing us flexibility for future use as campus needs evolve. By completing this project alongside the Learning Resource Center renovation, we maximize cost efficiency and steward resources wisely.
Today, there are over 2,000 open registered nurse positions in Arkansas.
After 43 years, JBU’s 39,000-square-foot Mabee Learning Resource Center will undergo extensive renovations. These updates include reducing the library size to create a new reading room and a comprehensive “one-stop” academic success center, housing various student support services and a student-run coffee shop. Additionally, an old broadcasting studio will be converted into a sound stage, IT offices will be added, and outdated mechanical systems will be replaced. The interior will also be updated and modernized.
The WSC was constructed in 2002 and renovated in the summer of 2022. JBU has refurbished all its public spaces with new carpet, furniture and painting as well as converting the previous post office space into the new Schmieding Commuter Lounge and creating a display area for JBU’s Abila Archaeological Project.
Esports is the fastest growing student activity in the US, with over 80% of high school students regularly playing. JBU has an active club team and intramural leagues with over 100 students participating in weekend tournaments. JBU is expanding its program to varsity competition and has renovated and equipped Bynum Theater to create a first-class venue for esports competitions.
JBU’s soccer programs have grown in excellence and appeal, with crowds regularly exceeding 500 people and occasionally exceeding over 1,000. Previously, we had limited facilities (single-stall restrooms) to serve these programs and their fans. JBU recently constructed a new pavilion that includes restrooms, covered seating, ADA access and entrance, and a concession area to meet these needs.
In 2021, JBU purchased and renovated an academic study center in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Lakeside Manor provides housing, classrooms, and dining facilities for 20-25 students in JBU’s study abroad program and for a variety of JBU overseas ministry programs as well as student programs from other CCCU universities.
