Serving JBU Students
Student meal plan options are based on residence status and year. Students may change their meal plan selection once each semester within the first couple weeks of school.
Terms to know
Flex-Meal Exchange: You can exchange one meal each day from the Kresge Dining Hall for a combo meal in California Cafe.
Declining Balance Dollars: These are supplements to your meal plan and can be used in the California Cafe or Kresge. They work like a bank debit card; each time you make a purchase the total is subtracted from the balance in your account, except you won't have to pay tax and it is much faster.
Ground Floor Coffee Declining Balance Card: This card works like a bank debit card for the Ground Floor Coffee Shop.
Other benefits
- New commuter plans including California Café snacks
- Ground Floor Coffee declining balance cards
- Add declining balance dollars and avoid sales tax on individual meals & snacks
- Flex-meal option to exchange one meal each day from the Kresge Dining Hall for a combo meal in California Cafe
- Guest access – use a scan to invite a friend to lunch (Not available on all-access plan.)
Flexible dining options & pricing
Initial meal plan choices will be billed to the Student Account at the first of each semester. Students will have one opportunity to change the meal plan and select meal plan enhancements through the second week of class. Afterward, additional meal plan enhancements may be purchased online by students, parents or others. Online purchases are paid in full at checkout and are not added to the Student Account. Online purchases require a JBU ID number. Purchases of Meal Plan Enhancements (Flex-Meal Exchange, Declining Balance Dollars, and Ground Floor Coffee Declining Balance Cards) are non-refundable. Declining Balance Dollars and Ground Floor Coffee Declining Balance Cards expire on the last day of dining services for the year.
