Graduate assistants are employees of John Brown University and, as such, must agree with our Articles of Faith and adhere to the Employee Expectations.
Graduate Assistantships in Athletics
The Student Development Office offers a limited number of Graduate Assistantships in the areas of Athletics. Student Development GAs are strongly encouraged to pursue a M.A. in Higher Education.
Graduate Business Assistantships
The Soderquist College of Business (SCOB) offers a Graduate Assistantship to a qualified student pursuing a graduate degree in the college.
The SCOB Assistantship includes full tuition to pursue an MBA or MS degree at JBU and an hourly wage for 35 hours of work per week for 44 weeks. Applicants must be enrolled as full-time graduate students and be available to work during regular business hours for no less than 35 hours per week when they are enrolled in graduate coursework.
Applicants must show strong leadership skills and experience, personal initiative, flexibility and a keen willingness to learn by experience. To retain the fellowship into a second year, good academic standing and job performance must be consistently maintained.
GA Position summary: The Graduate Assistant manages the marketing process for incoming students, coordinates major fair and preview day events, designs flyers and brochures, creates and manages content for social media pages, facilitates learning activities in the classroom, and assists in the coordination of events in the College of Business.
Graduate Counseling Assistantships
The Department of Graduate Counseling (DGC) offers the following four Graduate Assistantships:
Graduate Assistant - Little Rock and Siloam Springs Clinics (2 positions): provides general administrative and clinical support to the DGC’s Community Counseling Clinics under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Director.
Graduate Assistant - Administrative, Siloam Springs: provides administrative and faculty support to the DGC under the direction and supervision of the DGC Administrative Assistant and Department Chair.
Graduate Assistant - Field Placement, Siloam Springs: provides general administrative and clinical support to the DGC’s Field Placement processes under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Director.
Graduate Fellows in the Center for Healthy Relationships
The Center for Healthy Relationships offers two graduate fellow positions.
Graduate Fellow I is an entry-level appointment for a graduate student enrolled full-time in the M.S. in Counseling degree program (Marriage and Family Therapy emphasis preferred). Graduate Fellow I works under the direct supervision of a CHR staff member.
Graduate Fellow II is a one-year position for a graduate student who has completed at least one full year in the M.S. in Counseling Program and has a minimum of 18 credit hours to be completed. The Graduate Fellow II works under the direct supervision of the CHR staff.
