Present at Conferences

Present at Conferences

Each year, the Honors Scholars Program sends a group of students to conferences where they enjoy the opportunity to present and celebrate their original research alongside other scholars from across the country. JBU honors students regularly participate in two annual conferences:

Regional
Great Plains Honors Conference (GPHC)

We encourage all of our HSP freshman and sophomores to apply to present at GPHC. Students have the option of displaying a poster or delivering an oral presentation, and they get to meet and hear from peer-scholars representing universities across the nation. Other GPHC highlights include a special banquet and excursions around the conference location.

GPHC 2018 will be at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma on 23 - 25, 2018. Application information and deadlines will be available on the GPHC website soon.

National
National Conferences for Undergraduate Research (NCUR)

"Through this annual conference, NCUR creates a unique environment for the celebration and promotion of undergraduate student achievement, provides models of exemplary research and scholarship, and helps to improve the state of undergraduate education." -NCUR website

NCUR is for the students who have some public speaking experience and have conducted their own research; therefore, . For this reason, the presentations are longer and occur in front of a larger crowd. Participating in a national conference is great experience for any student going into a field that requires an ability to compile one's own research and communicate it well.

NCUR 2018, "Connection to Place," will be held at the University of Central Oklahoma on April 4 - 7.
