Dr. Yufei Duan
Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering
Dr. Yufei Duan joined the Engineering Faculty at John Brown University in the fall of 2026. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Water Conservancy Engineering from Northwest A&F University in China. Then he received his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida and his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He will teach Environmental Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydrology, and Transportation Engineering in Civil Engineering major. His research interests include water quality, microplastics, environmental engineering and asphalt pavement materials.
Dr. Duan and his wife are blessed with an adorable baby boy, Joshua, and a cute cat, Mario, and they hope to welcome a dog into their family in the near future. Outside the classroom, he likes basketball, swimming, playing guitar, photography, and history. Besides, he enjoys exploring different cultures and building friendships with people from different backgrounds. In his spare time, he and his family participate in discipleship training camp, visit new cities, and enjoy learning and growing together through shared experiences.
