Where are you from?

Texarkana, AR

Major in College?

Family and Human Services

What activities were you involved in at JBU?

Honors Council, Growth group leader, Student Council on Family Relations, intramural soccer and flag football, Gateway mentor

What are your favorite things to do in NWA?

Discover a new hiking trail, eat frozen yogurt at Braums, bike the Razorback Greenway, explore Once Upon a Time bookstore, play soccer, and create art with my community group at church. Hammocking in my backyard is a great way to end my spring or fall evenings, too!

What’s your favorite book?

I cannot choose just one! “Starfish” by Lisa Fipps, “The Book of Common Courage” by KJ Ramsey, and “Words” by Ginny Yttrup are in my top 10. Always looking for more recommendations!

What’s your favorite game?

Definitely soccer! Twister or Dogopoly might be the runner-ups.

Describe your family?

My younger sister, also a JBU grad, works with a sheriffs office and plays semi-pro tackle football. My parents work in education and church ministry. When everyone is home and my aunt visits, it’s typically loud, we laugh a lot, and fun arguments and snarky comments abound over games of Qwirkle.

What quick advice would you give an incoming JBU student?

Initiate connecting with older adults at your church. Invite them to the caf for lunch, ask them to go on a walk, or invite them to your sporting or major academic events. These are the relationships that can become such a grounding space when college life feels overwhelming. (And you usually get free laundry, home-cooked meals, and good hugs in the process!)
