After 14 years with UPS, Nathan Wilkerson entered full-time ministry as a children's ministry director at New Heights Church in Fayetteville. In 2010 he accepted a call to pastor at Pleasant Street Church of Christ. Along with delivering messages on Sunday mornings, he works to develop and support leaders who are planting simple churches in homes, offices and other locations in the community.
In 2012, his church hosted the Greenhouse Conference. That experience played a role in the initiation of church planting movements in several places in the US and other countries. In April 2014, Nathan was involved in launching a church planters app to provide resources and training for free to anyone who would like to make disciples and plant churches. Currently, 14 missional communities are directly associated with his church planting movement.
As a former JBU student himself, Nathan knows the high value of a JBU education. He also understands the dynamics and struggles faced by Christ-followers who have accepted His call to serve Him in the marketplace. It's this understanding that results in his being able to structure the course he teaches to equip participants to draw the needed resources from the gospel of Christ. His education through JBU and his nearly ten years of full-time ministry have equipped him with a biblical and theological depth that helps students process the core Christian message.
