Fall 2022 Scholarship Competition
November 13–14, 2022
Spring 2023 Scholarship Competition
February 5–6, 2023
Compete for one of JBU's top scholarships.
What should I expect?
JBU's Scholarship Competition is a semi-formal event beginning with the Honors Scholars Banquet on Sunday evening. During the event, you will participate in two interviews: a one-on-one interview with an admissions counselor and a moderated group interview. Between interviews, there will be opportunities to connect with the JBU community, learn more about academic programs, meet Honors students and imagine your future here.
Which competition should I attend?
You may choose to compete in either the fall or spring competition but you may only compete once. If you are interested in the Early Commit Track, you should compete in the fall event.
Each event has a limited number of seats, so we recommend that you register early to reserve your spot.
Can my parents come?
Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend! However, on-campus accommodations are not available to your guests. See the visitor information page for a list of local hotels.
How should I prepare for my interviews?
You will participate in two interviews: a one-on-one interview with an admissions counselor and a moderated group interview. The twenty-minute one-on-one interview will focus on questions about your life experience and development as an individual. In the hour-long moderated group interview, you will join 9-12 other student attendees to answer self-reflection questions before a panel of five JBU community members (faculty, staff or student). You will have between thirty and ninety seconds to answer each question in the group interview.
We recommend reading two excerpts.

What should I wear?
We suggest business professional attire for the banquet and for your interviews. Dress as you would for an important job interview.
I'm staying on campus. What do I need to bring?
Students who are spending the night on campus should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, shower shoes and toiletries.
I have questions. Whom should I contact?
For general questions, contact your admissions counselor. For questions about your event registration, scheduling or other logistics, contact JBU's director of events:
