Subsidized Counseling

Counseling is to help the students work through personal concerns that might otherwise make continuing their education more of a challenge.

For Enrolled Students in Northwest Arkansas
Enrolled graduate and online undergraduate students in Northwest Arkansas have access to the JBU Student Counseling Center on the main campus in Siloam Springs. Appointments can be requested online or by calling 479.524.7251.

There is no charge for the student’s first session. JBU will pay a portion of the costs for seven additional sessions up to eight total sessions throughout the time a student is enrolled at JBU. The student will pay the Student Counseling Center $40 for each session after the first.

For Enrolled Students near Little Rock
Students who live closer to Little Rock and are currently enrolled in graduate or online undergraduate classes are eligible to receive JBU-subsidized counseling services at a counseling practice that has an agreement with JBU in place. Students in need of counseling services will get the name of the approved provider in their area by calling this central number at John Brown University, 479.524.7259 or e-mailing Tammy Fisher (TRFisher@jbu.edu). The student will receive a disclosure and waiver statement to sign which allows JBU to verify the student’s enrollment to the provider. The student will pay the counseling practice $40 for each session after the first visit.

Under this policy, JBU is subsidizing payment for counseling services by a third-party licensed counselor. Therefore, JBU takes no responsibility for the quality, content, or effectiveness of the counseling. By accepting the subsidy, the student agrees to release JBU from any liability related to the counseling services received.
