Crisis Alert System
The Crisis Alert System used at JBU broadcasts urgent messages via several platforms. All students, faculty and staff emails are automatically opted in to receive e-mail notifications. Each individual can also register mobile numbers to receive text and voice messages. (If parents which to receive notifications, their student will need to register the parent number on their CAS registration.)
Alerts can also be displayed on campus televisions and classroom computers.
JBU will, without delay, immediately notify the campus community upon the confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students, faculty, or staff on campus. Taking into account the safety of the community, the University will determine the content of the notification and initiate the notification system, unless issuing a notification will, in the professional judgment of responsible authorities, compromise efforts to assist a victim or to contain, respond to, or otherwise mitigate the emergency. After the initial notification, follow-up information may be disseminated to the community via the messaging system or by e-mail, as needed.
The televisions on campus (like those in the Walker Student Center, the Kresge Dining Hall and various lobbies) are tools for crisis communication during emergencies and MUST REMAIN ON AT ALL TIMES. Repeated attempts to turn off the televisions may result in disciplinary action. If you have questions or comments about the content on the JBU televisions when they are not relaying emergency information, contact the Chief Marketing & Communication Officer.
