Tentative Schedule

We are thrilled to have you as part of our newest class! For this year’s Orientation program, the Orientation Director team chose the theme “One” with the verse Ephesians 4:1-6. Though we come to JBU from many different backgrounds, we are all one in Christ. We desire new students to feel that they are a part of JBU — that you belong here. Your talents, spiritual gifts, and contributions are valuable to our community. We are excited to share more about this theme with you when you arrive and how it will shape our time together.

While this year will look a bit different, we have designed a great program of activities, informational sessions, interactions, and more that we believe will help you make an excellent transition to John Brown University, whether you're a freshman or a transfer student.  Your safety and health are our priority, so all our events will require a mask and will follow physical distancing guidelines.

New students move in is on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 11-12, 2020. Please sign-up for a move-in time slot at You will have 30 minutes to unload your vehicle and may have up to two family members or friends help you move in. Everyone must wear a mask.

As soon as your vehicle is unloaded, please go to the tent outside the Kresge Dining Hall where you will be given a number to enter the line to complete your enrollment and registration process [photo ID, business office, nurse]. Please bring your required paperwork to complete the enrollment process. We ask that no more than two people accompany you through this process. Everyone will need to wear a mask and observe physical distancing. Once completed, your family/friends may help you set up your room and settle in, but then they must leave campus.

You will be assigned to an Orientation group on one of 6 color teams based on your residence hall. You will meet your leaders after moving in and can attend meals with them once you arrive on campus.

If you have questions about your residence hall assignment, contact your Admissions counselor or the Residence Life Office (479-524-7229).

We are sorry to inform you that due to COVID-19, there are no on-campus events for parents or families during Orientation. You are welcome to spend time with your family off campus in our wonderful town of Siloam Springs. Most of our local restaurants are open for dining or you can have a picnic in our beautiful parks.

We will be hosting an incoming parent zoom meeting on Tuesday, August 4th at 7:00 p.m. We will send an invite via email.

If you are a commuter, you will complete your enrollment process on Thursday, August 13th between 8:30-10:00 a.m. in Simmons Great Hall. Please bring your required paperwork to complete the enrollment process. We ask that no more than two people accompany you through this process. Everyone will need to wear a mask and observe physical distancing procedures.

You will be assigned into Orientation groups on one of 6 color based on your major. You will meet your leaders after you complete your enrollment.

ORIENTATION will begin on Thursday, August 13th. Information for on-campus students will be placed in your room. Commuters will pick up your information packets on Thursday morning.

Our Orientation kick-off event will begin at 10:00 a.m. in 4 different locations based on your orientation team.

The finalized one-page schedule is available here. The full orientation packet is available here.

A detailed schedule will given to you during the enrollment line.

Should you have more questions when you arrive, stop by the Orientation Information Desk, located in the Walker Student Center, right in the middle of campus.

We'll keep you busy and active (while being safe) learning about JBU, laughing, playing, getting acquainted, and serving others throughout Orientation so please don't schedule anything else during this time.

ALL STUDENTS [freshman, transfers, commuters, athletes, international students, on-campus students…] must attend Orientation.  An Orientation fee will be included on your account.  If you have significant concerns or an extenuating circumstance and would like to request a fee waiver, please contact Don Crandall in the Admissions office.
