OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (October 24, 2012) - Cheyenne Padgett notched her second game-winning goal of the season today, this time in the 98th minute that catapulted John Brown to a 2-1 conference win over Mid-America Christian in Oklahoma City.

Padgett proved to be the majority of the Golden Eagle (9-4-1, 4-2-1 SAC) offense today as the senior midfielder recorded four shots on goal, almost half of the JBU total output, and added an assist to complete the three-point afternoon.

In the late stages of the first overtime, Madi Susmilch was able to get a head on Whitney Brannan's corner kick, but the shot attempt was blocked by the Evangel defense. Padgett was in prime position, however, cleaning up the rebound by volleying a shot past the MACU keeper to seal the victory.

"We had a very solid performance from our midfield and forwards today," said head coach Scott Marksberry. "We possessed the ball well, connected passes and created a good number of dangerous chances."

The Lady Evangels (8-8-0, 3-4-0 SAC) scored in the 57th minute as Chelsea Swisher buried a cross that sailed through the box to even the score at one apiece.

Early in the match, the Golden Eagles found the scoreboard first when Laura Garcia converted a one-on-one situation with the Mid-America Christian netminder. The marker was Garcia's sixth goal of the season.

Both teams were able to fire over 20 shots on goal. The Lady Evangels barely edged the Golden Eagles, 22-21.

Freshman goalkeeper Kristen Morency played an outstanding match, recording 11 saves on 12 shots fired her way en route to her ninth win of the season.

With the win, John Brown moves into a tie for third place in the Sooner Athletic Conference with Oklahoma Baptist with one game on the slate remaining. JBU will face conference-leader and No. 9 team in nation Oklahoma City (15-1-0, 6-1-0 SAC) on Saturday (Oct. 27) at Alumni Field. The game is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.
