Men Finish at No. 8 Spot While Women Finish 7th in Shawnee

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (October 6, 2012) - John Brown finished in eighth place on the men’s side while the women captured the seventh slot today at the Oklahoma Baptist University Invitational in Shawnee, Okla.
Finishing with a team total of 211, Marcos Gutierrez led all Golden Eagles with a time of 26:20.00 in the 8k race, followed by Tekste Gebreslasse’s finish at 27:08.00.
Gutierrez finished in 22nd place while Gebreslasse’s mark was good enough for 44th.
On the ladies side, it was Melissa Roth that paced the women as Roth came in with a time of 20:06.00 in the 5k race, finishing 29th.
Moments later, Valerie Kliewer crossed the finish line at 20:12.00, placing her in 32nd place.
The women finished with a team total of 179. Oklahoma Baptist took the title with a team score of 19.
After a 14-day break, the Golden Eagles will participate in the NAIA Mid-States Classic on Saturday (Oct. 20). The event is hosted by Southwestern College (Kan.).
