Sooner Athletic Conference Releases All-Conference Volleyball Team

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 17, 2003) - Five JBU volleyball players earned SAC honors for their play during the 2003 volleyball season. Senior Jairin Schrader was named as the SAC Back Row Specialist of the Year. Schrader was also named to the All-Conference 2nd Team. Schrader established a new JBU career dig record of 1639 surpassing the old record of 1409 set by Melody Murray. Junior Meghann Wharton was honored with a 1st Team All-Conference Selection. Wharton contributed to the 2003 Golden Eagle volleyball team with 309 kills, 141 digs, 40 service aces and 126 blocks. Christine Wells, a sophomore back row specialist and libero, earned a 2nd Team selection. Wells led JBU with 564 digs on the season. In addition to the 1st and 2nd Team honors, two other JBU players, sophomore Elisa Evans and junior Helen Gross, were named to the Honorable Mention SAC Volleyball Team. Evans finished the year with 299 kills, 69 digs and 140 blocks. Gross totaled 286 kills, 178 digs and 84 blocks for the 2003 season.
