Arkansas Tech Downs Golden Eagles, 9-0

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (March 14, 2013) - One day removed after playing nationally-ranked Oklahoma Baptist, John Brown suffered another defeat, this time at the hands of NCAA II Arkansas Tech, as the Golden Suns ran away with a 9-0 victory in Russellville.

The duo of Kellie Mowrer and Katie Bellinger were the only two to nab a point in doubles play as ATU swept the top two spots.

At the top singles' spot, Michelle Caneday pushed Aida Castany to a 6-2, 6-2 score, but was unable to capture the win. Mowrer was able to nab two games from Laura Sanchez at the No. 3 spot, but fell 6-2, 6-0. At the sixth slot, Bellinger was able to notch a pair of points against Jessica Valesquez, but lost by a score of 6-1, 6-1.

The Golden Suns swept seven sets in singles play while the Golden Eagles were only able to secure eight total points in one-on-one action against its tough NCAA opposition.

The ladies fall to 1-7 on the season and will return to action on Tuesday, April 2, when it travels to McPherson, Kan., for a matchup with Central Christian at 1:00 p.m.
