BRANKLE LANDS SECOND WEEKLY HONORS OF 2016

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- For the second time this season, junior Beth Brankle has been named the Sooner Athletic Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday (Nov. 7) morning.

The selection was Brankle's second of the season, as she was honored back in week two on Aug. 29.

Brankle helped the Golden Eagles (19-11, 11-7 SAC) complete an improbable five-match winning streak this past week with wins over St. Gregory's (Okla.) and Science & Arts (Okla.), helping JBU secure an SAC tournament quarterfinal match at home on Tuesday (Nov. 8).

Over the two matches, Brankle averaged 7.57 digs per set in a four-set win over SGU and a sweep at USAO. This season, Brankle ranks fifth in the conference, averaging just over 5.1 digs/set.

Brankle closed the regular season with 20 or more digs in eight of her last nine contests, including a stretch-best 30 scoops at Science & Arts.
