Duncan's Offensive Outburst Lands Weekly Honors

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (October 6, 2014) -- Senior striker Ryan Duncan has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending on Oct. 5, the conference offices announced this afternoon.

Joining Duncan in the weekly awards was Bryan Byers of Science & Arts (Okla.), who was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Duncan, a native of Olmeldrum, Scotland, scored three goals in the Golden Eagles' (5-4-1, 1-1-1 SAC) pair of games on the week that included a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Oklahoma City on Wednesday (Oct. 1) and a come-from-behind win over St. Gregory's (Okla.) on Saturday (Oct. 4).

With his pair of goals against the Cavaliers, Duncan now owns the scoring lead for John Brown with six goals and 12 points. He also paces the team with three game-winning strikes this season. His propensity for game-clinching tallies lands him at No. 11 in the nation in game-winners.

The weekly accolades are the second of Duncan's career.

Byers, of Oklahoma City, Okla., posted back-to-back shutouts in USAO's 2-0 win over Wayland Baptist (Texas) and 3-0 victory over Oklahoma City to improve the Drovers to 9-1 on the season. Byers' 38 career shutouts is tied for fifth on the NAIA's all-time list.
