Fall Registration Opens for JBU's Community Arts Academy

SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. (June 23, 2016) –Registration for John Brown University’s Community Arts Academy opens July 1 for 14 weekly music lessons through the fall semester. The lessons will begin in August and end in December. The Community Arts Academy, a program of JBU’s music and theatre department, provides an opportunity for local community members to experience and excel in music.

The academy enrolls students of all ages and musical abilities for weekly lessons in voice, piano, guitar, drums and violin each semester taught by JBU faculty, alumni and area musicians. No auditions are required to participate in the Community Arts Academy.

“We developed the Community Arts Academy to give students in the community an opportunity to explore music through individual lessons facilitated by professional instructors,” said Jen Edwards, head of JBU’s music and theatre department. “We offer lessons in a variety of formats to accommodate the needs of each student.”

Lessons with a JBU faculty instructor cost $288 for 30-minute weekly lessons and $576 for 60-minute weekly lessons over 14 weeks. The costs for lessons with JBU graduates and area musicians are $216 per semester for a 30-minute weekly lessons and $432 per semester for 60-minute weekly lessons over 14 weeks.
