Georgopulos Named Defensive Player of the Week

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (November 9, 2015) -- For the first time in his career, freshman keeper Connor Georgopulos has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference offices announced on Monday (Nov. 9).

Georgopulos, a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo., earned the weekly honor after his 99-minute, one-save effort against Wayland Baptist (Texas) in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals on Friday (Nov. 6). The 1-0 overtime win moved Georgopulos to 3-0-0 in his career after stepping in for the injured Adam Holt last week. In his third-career appearance, he notched his first-career clean sheet after freshman Ryan Williams scored the game-winning goal in the 100th minute of play.

John Brown returns to action on later today (Nov. 9) when it hosts Southwestern Christian (Okla.) in the tournament semifinals at 5:30 p.m. at Alumni Field.
