Golden Eagles Finish 10th at Texas Intercollegiates

FT. WORTH, Texas (March 12, 2013) - Freshman Sam Greenleaf carded a team-leading first day low of 77 and finished with a two-day total of 160, guiding the Golden Eagle men's golf team to a 10th place finish at the Texas Intercollegiate at the Hawk's Creek Golf Course today.

John Brown remained in 10th place after both rounds of competition. Despite shooting six strokes higher on day two, Greenleaf finished as JBU's top shooter, landing No. 45 overall in the tournament. Sophomore Stephen Allen turned in the most consistent performance, landing a pair of nine-over 81s, tying for 48th overall.

Allen's two-day 162 kept JBU locked into the No. 10 spot as the Golden Eagles finished with a 655, 14 shots better than 11th place Oklahoma Wesleyan and 15 better than Southwestern Christian (Kan.).

Senior Nathan Sudheimer finished with a total of 163 (80-83), good enough for a tie at No. 52, while freshman Conner Reed's 170 (88-82), featured a six-shot improvement, the highest sported by the Golden Eagles on the second day of play.

Sophomore Tommy Wright completed play by carding a 184 (91-93), which landed him at No. 72 overall.

The Golden Eagles will return to the greens on Mach 25-26 when the squad heads to Little Rock, Ark., to challenge in the Central Baptist (Ark.) Spring Invitational.
