Gonzalez Named SAC Player of the Week for Second Time

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (November 7, 2013) -- Junior Martin Gonzalez has earned his second Offensive Player of the Week honors this season after his impressive performance this past weekend, earning the accolades for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 3, the conference office announced this afternoon.

Gonzalez, a Houston, Texas, native scored a pair of goals and tallied two assists in John Brown's 4-0 victory over Mid-America Christian (Okla.) on Thursday (Oct. 31). Gonzalez has set a career season in 2013, scoring 10 goals while landing five assists (25 points) and has notched two game-winning goals.

The Golden Eagles (8-9-1) finished the week 1-0-1 after a 2-2 tie with Northwood (Texas) on Saturday (Nov. 2).

Joining Gonzalez in notching Player of the Week accolades on the defensive end was Texas Wesleyan's Ross DeWet.

DeWet, a senior defender from Johannesburg, South Africa, helped lead Texas Wesleyan to two wins. Opponents only attempted four total shots on goal in the victories.
