Holt Earns First-Ever Player of the Week Honors

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (September 15, 2014) -- John Brown freshman netminder Adam Holt has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on Sept. 14, the conference offices announced this afternoon.

Holt, a native of Tulsa, Okla., collected the honors after a 2-0-0 week, sending the Golden Eagles to an overall record of 2-3-0 on the season. In the first game against Ozarks (Ark.), Holt collected his first-career win and made one save in JBU’s 2-1 victory. More impressively, Holt extended John Brown’s winning streak to two later in the week when he led the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 upset victory over No. 5 Oklahoma Wesleyan. He made four outstanding saves in the second half to preserve not only the victory, but his first career shutout.

Jamie Campbell of Southwestern Christian (Okla.) was selected as this week’s Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. The freshman forward from Liverpool, England, totaled four goals in SCU’s shutout victories over Bethel (Kan.), 3-0, and Southwest (N.M), 2-0. Campbell has scored eight goals in the first five games for the Eagles, including a pair of hat tricks.
