Huff's Role Change Results in Weekly Honors

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Replacing injured starter Kristen Morency with a pair of starts this past week, freshman Kathryn Huff earned a pair of wins, including a shutout, and was honored by landing this week's Sooner Athletic Defensive Player of the Week, the conference offices announced Monday (Oct. 31) afternoon.

The selection to the weekly honor roll is the first of Huff's career.

Huff made her first career start in the most exciting match this season for John Brown on Thursday (Oct. 27) against Texas Wesleyan. In the head-to-head matchup of the top teams in the conference, Huff made a trio of saves and recevied plenty of help from her back line to anchor the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 victory and its first Sooner Athletic regular season title since 2009.

Huff followed that up by pitching nearly 70 minutes of shutout soccer on Saturday (Oct. 29), until she was relieved by junior Samantha Weber and returned to some familiar field duties. She finished the week 2-0-0 with three saves and a shutout in 160 minutes of goalkeeping.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday (Nov. 4) when No. 18 John Brown (15-1-1) hosts Texas Wesleyan at 5:30 p.m. in the Sooner Athletic tournament quarterfinals at Alumni Field
