JBU Announces Lowest Percent Increase for Undergraduate Tuition, Room & Board

SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (March 2, 2021) – The John Brown University Board of Trustees approved the administration's recommendation of a 1.68% blended increase for 2021-2022 undergraduate tuition, fees, room and board. The 1.68% increase is the lowest percentage rate increase in more than 30 years and amounts to $636. Tuition for students in the online undergraduate and graduate programs remains flat for the next academic year.

To help with the increase, the university will make an additional $736,000 available for need and merit-based institutional scholarships and work-study positions. For the 2021-22 academic year, JBU expects to award just under $17 million in scholarships with 88% of JBU students receiving some form of institutional aid, including approximately $2.5 million in endowed scholarships that benefit more than 560 students.

"Despite the financial impact of COVID-19, JBU’s board of trustees and administration remain committed to controlling costs so tuition increases remain as low as possible," Dr. Kim Hadley, vice president for finance and administration, said. “We’re grateful for our generous donors who continue to provide for scholarships, including the Fill the Gap Scholarship for those financially impacted by COVID-19.”

For the fifth year, U.S. News & World Report ranked JBU as the top Arkansas school in its cohort. In 2020, The Wall Street Journal ranked JBU as the number two college in Arkansas and in the top 10 Christian colleges in the nation.

Although exact board costs may vary slightly based on selected flexible dining options, the cost breakdown for undergraduate tuition, fees, room and board for 2021-22 is:
