JBU Announces Lowest Percent Increase for Undergraduate Tuition, Room & Board

SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (Feb. 18, 2019) – The John Brown University Board of Trustees announced this week a 2.69 percent blended increase for 2019-2020 undergraduate tuition, fees, room and board. The 2.69 percent increase is the lowest percentage rate increase in more than 30 years and amounts to $972.

To help with the increase, the university will make an additional $420,000 budget available for need and merit-based institutional scholarships and the work-study program. For the 2019-20 academic year, JBU expects to award $16.1 million in scholarships with 92 percent of JBU students receiving some form of institutional aid, including approximately $2.2 million in endowed scholarships that benefit nearly 300 students.

"The board of trustees and administration of JBU are committed to controlling operational costs without sacrificing the top-tier Christian education that our students expect and deserve," Dr. Kim Hadley, vice president for finance and administration, said. "We are deeply grateful for generous supporters who recognize that JBU is a best value in Christian higher education and give cheerfully to scholarship endowments and our annual fund to help our students attend JBU."

Tuition for online undergraduate students will rise to $425 per credit hour. Tuition for graduate students will increase to $600 per credit hour for graduate business majors. The tuition remains flat at $600 per credit hour for graduate cybersecurity, $560 per credit hour for graduate counseling and $460 per credit hour for graduate education majors.
