John Brown University Receives $50,000 Program Development Grant
SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. (Dec. 8, 2015) – John Brown University was awarded a $50,000 Program Development Grant by the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE) to support JBU’s Career Development Center.
“With this grant, JBU can better equip students to enter the workforce in a field and position that best fits their skills and passions,” said Dr. April Moreton, senior director of development. “Vocational development has been a priority for the university since its founding and we are deeply grateful for this opportunity to better serve students through our Career Development Center.”
The grant will be awarded over two years and will fund a three-tier initiative to enhance the research, development and implementation of vocational exploration programs. JBU will establish:
- A task force to establish a common language and framework for student vocational exploration as well as training materials and resources for faculty/staff advisors.
- Resources designed to equip key campus influencers to encourage vocational exploration in students.
- Programming to engage students on the topic of vocation at critical junctures in their four years at JBU.
The Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education is a nationwide network of colleges and universities formed to enrich the intellectual and theological exploration of vocation among undergraduate students. NetVUE is administered by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) with guidance from an advisory council comprised of representatives from participating institutions.
