JBU Cathedral Choir to Perform Annual Spring Concert

SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (March 14, 2018) – The John Brown University Cathedral Choir will perform a concert on Tuesday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Berry Performing Arts Center, as a conclusive concert of its annual spring tour.

Comprised of 60 of JBU’s most qualified singers, the Cathedral Choir will perform pieces ranging from the early 17th century to newly composed pieces of 2017.  Audiences will hear many different styles of music from Renaissance favorites “Hodie Christus Natus Est” by Sweelinck and “Exsultate Justi” by Viadana to Z. Randall Stroope’s powerful “Conversion of Saul.” This year, the Cathedral Choir will premiere a new work composed by Dr. Jeremy Allen, JBU assistant professor of music, titled “Hapo Mwanzo,” which is an arrangement of John 1:1 in Swahili.

The Cathedral Choir has toured extensively all over the U.S. and in Northern Ireland. The choir’s spring tour includes concerts in Colorado and Kansas from March 18-25. In addition to annual tours, the choir is featured in the annual Candlelight Service at JBU each December.

In 2014, the Cathedral Choir recorded a CD while on a mission tour in Northern Ireland. The CD will be on sale at the choir’s appearance, along with a three-CD set of the "Best of the Cathedral Choir 1992-2016."

The concert is free and open to the public.
