JBU Cathedral Choir to Perform Selections from Northern Ireland Tour
SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (March 28, 2017) – The John Brown University Cathedral Choir will perform selections from their upcoming tour of Northern Ireland on Friday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Berry Performing Arts Center.
The choir, composed of 68 students from 15 states and four countries, will sing pieces ranging from the early 17th century to present day, including Jakob Handl’s (Gallus’) “Exultate Justi in Domino,” Jack Halloran’s “Witness,” Robert Scholz’s “What Wondrous Love is This” and Zack Stanton’s “The Beatitudes.”
From May 7 – 23, the JBU Cathedral Choir will sing at various churches and schools across Ireland with special guest appearances in Portstewart, Belfast and the North Ireland Parliament Great Hall. The trip will also include a day of recording a CD at St. Mark’s Parish Church in Dundela, the church where C.S. Lewis’s grandfather pastored.
The event is free and open to the public, and will be last concert JBU Cathedral Choir’s Director Paul Smith will direct before his retirement. Proceeds from an offering that will be taken will go toward the choir’s travel costs to Ireland. For more information, please call 479-524-7154.
