JBU DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC AND THEATRE PRESENTS “PRIDE AND PREJUDICE”

Siloam Springs, Ark. (Feb. 9, 2015) - The John Brown University Department of Music and Theatre will present “Pride and Prejudice” on Feb. 20, 21, 27 and 28 at the Berry Performing Arts Center.

It is a familiar story about the five Bennet sisters in early 19th century Britain, for whom marriage is the utmost concern and eligible bachelors are scarce.

When the wealthy Mr. Bingley and his even wealthier friend, Mr. Darcy, take up residence at a neighboring estate, the Bennet family is sent into an uproar and discovers what happens when everyone’s pride and prejudices conflict with their affections for one another.

“The fire and wit of Jane Austen's classic 1813 romance really comes out on stage,” said Jan Lauderdale, play director. “This adaptation by Joseph Hanreddy and J. R. Sullivan is wonderfully entertaining.”

“I’m thrilled to be playing Elizabeth Bennet,” said Peyton Weaver, a senior at JBU. “Like Elizabeth, I’m the second eldest of five girls so I have used my growing-up experience to shape the way I represent Elizabeth to the audience.”

Performances will be on the following dates:

Friday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
