JBU Holds Inaugural 5K Race to Benefit JBU’s Scholarship Fund
SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (Sept. 29, 2017) – John Brown University will hold the inaugural 5K race, the Glow Run, during JBU’s Homecoming weekend, Friday, Oct. 6 at 8:30 p.m. on JBU’s main campus. The race, starting and ending by JBU’s iconic 100 Steps, will benefit JBU’s Scholarship Fund (JBUSF), which directly invests in the lives of more than 500 JBU students by making JBU more affordable through need-based scholarships and work-study positions.
“Our intention for this race is to provide a fun and engaging environment for our alumni, JBU students and the local community as they positively impact current students in a tangible way,” Brad Edwards, director of alumni and parent relations, said. “By running five kilometers, competitors will help to equip JBU students with the opportunity to gain a quality education to accomplish their career goals and dreams.”
Gifts to the JBUSF go 100 percent to helping deserving students as they pursue a Christ-centered education at JBU. The 2017-2018 goal is to raise $800,000 by June 30, 2018.
The race costs $20 for JBU students and $25 for non-JBU students, and includes a t-shirt and a donation the JBUSF. To register, visit jbu.edu/glowrun/ or register onsite on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
