JBU Presents Comedy ‘Parfumerie’
SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. (Sept. 22, 2016) – John Brown University presents the fall drama production of “Parfumerie” from Sept. 30 - Oct. 1 and Oct. 7-8 in the Berry Performing Arts Center.
“Parfumerie” follows the amusing tale of shop employee George Horvath, who’s wrongly accused of having an affair with his boss’ wife and unknowingly falls in love with his estranged co-worker. Originally written in the 1930s by Hungarian writer Miklos Laszlo, JBU students will perform the translation and adaption of the script by Laszlo’s American nephew, E.P. Dowdall.
“This play has something for everyone: humor, romance, moral dilemmas and mystery, all in the interesting setting of Budapest, Hungary in 1936,” Jan Lauderdale, JBU’s drama instructor and play director, said. “We have a delightfully talented cast of JBU students who are developing wonderful and deep characters. Every patron will be able to identify with a character in the play.”
Showtimes are Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. The show, suitable for all ages, inspired the movies “The Shop Around the Corner,” “She Loves Me,” “In the Good Old Summertime” and “You’ve Got Mail.”
