JBU Presents Giving Voice: A Festival of Writing and the Arts
SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (September 23, 2013) - John Brown University will host the annual Giving Voice: A Festival of Writing and the Arts on Sept. 26-27 at the Siloam Springs campus. The festival features workshops and public performances by established writers and musicians.
Keynote speaker, Tom Maltman, is author of The Night Birds and has been awarded various honors and awards for his work. Other guest writers include Jeanne Murray Walker, author of seven poetry books and a professor of English at the University of Delaware, and Patty Kirk, author of five books and current writer in residence at John Brown University
Andrew Peterson, Dove-award nominated singer-songwriter whose works have been recorded by various artists, including Caedmon’s Call, Randy Travis and Michael Card will be part of the events on Thursday, Sept. 26.
Events open to the public on Thursday, Sept. 26, include convocation at 10:30 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Ozarks and presentations by the guest speakers at 7:00 p.m. in the Simmons Great Hall. On Friday, Sept. 27, area high school students will participate in a variety of workshops on writing fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and plays, as well as drama and many art forms.
