“We are thrilled to be ranked #1 by College Choice,” said Dr. Stacey Duke, Dean of Online Undergraduate Programs & Strategic Initiatives. “John Brown University is dedicated to providing a quality, applicable education in an engaging online format, and this ranking is indicative of the faculty and staff’s dedication to our students. We are committed to serving our communities by developing the next generation of leaders.”

According to College Choice, the ranking was based on institutional excellence and student success. Institutional excellence includes student test scores, graduation rate, and student-to-faculty ratio. The student success composite score includes tuition costs, average student indebtedness after graduation, projected early career salary for graduates, and the amount of financial aid available. Sources for the data come from colleges’ websites, PayScale, and nationally recognized U.S. News & World Report and The National Center for Education Statistics.

In its description of John Brown University, College Choice noted, “they focus on teaching from a Christian perspective following their motto: ‘Head-Heart-Hand’.” According to College Choice, JBU Online’s small class sizes and 14-to-1 faculty ratio were a few of the features that contributed to its #1 ranking.
