JBU Yearbook Wins National Best Cover Award

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (April 16, 2014) - Nesher, the John Brown University yearbook, won Best Cover at the 2014 Dave L. Adams Apple Awards presented at the Spring National College Media Convention in New York.

The 2013 Nesher cover was a joint effort of Editor Starla Koehler, responsible for art direction and hand lettering, and Jordan Kline, illustrator. Both Koehler and Kline graduated from JBU last May.

“What an honor to have received this recognition. I am so proud of our Nesher yearbook staff and all the long hours and late nights they put into the book to make it so beautiful. Their dedication and talent truly represent John Brown University well,” said Christy Hall, staff adviser.

“We do the work for the JBU community, not for awards, but the recognition of our work is always good,” said J.P. Garcia, assistant editor of the 2013 Nesher.

The awards, hosted by the College Media Association, are named in honor David L. Adams, a longtime CMA supporter and adviser at Indiana University, who died in 2007.

John Brown University is a private Christian university, ranked first by “U.S. News & World Report” in the Southern Region among baccalaureate colleges. JBU enrolls more than 2,000 students from 42 states and 45 countries. JBU is a member of Arkansas’ Independent Colleges and Universities and the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.
