JBU to Offer Online Degree in Liberal Arts

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (April 3, 2013) - John Brown University will launch an online Liberal Arts degree this fall as part of the Degree Completion Program. The curriculum will allow students with 60 hours of college credit, who meet admission requirements, to complete a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts completely online.

“We are excited about the opportunity to embrace and extend JBU’s identity as a top-notch liberal arts university through the development of our latest degree completion program,” said Susan DeWoody, dean of Degree Completion and Non-Traditional Programs. “The BSLA is an excellent program that will afford students the opportunity to not only increase their knowledge base, but also strengthen crucial critical thinking skills that are needed in today’s job market.  Best of all, the fully online format allows students to accomplish their educational goals while allowing the student maximum flexibility that works with their professional schedule and personal commitments.”

The online Liberal Arts degree is the fourth program offered in JBU’s Degree Completion Program. In addition to the on-ground Early Childhood Education degree completion program offered at the JBU Rogers Center, students may earn a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management in Fort Smith, Harrison, Little Rock, Rogers, or the Sam M. Walton Development Center in Bentonville, or a degree in Business Administration, which is also offered completely online.

“The Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts provides students with a focused course of study while allowing them to explore their interests through course offerings in psychology, communication, and government,” Michael Orf, activity directory in JBU’s Office of Distance Learning, said. “Students can now earn a Liberal Arts degree from one of the top regional colleges in the south in an online environment.”
