JBU, Kimberly-Clark Partner for 37th Annual Toilet Paper Game

SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (Nov. 4, 2017) – John Brown University’s men’s basketball season tipped off today at 8 p.m. at the 37th Annual Toilet Paper Game, powered by Kimberly-Clark, as the Golden Eagles faced Ecclesia (Arkansas) in the Bill George Arena.

After JBU’s first field goal, made by junior Marquis Waller, JBU fans tossed over 2,000 rolls of toilet paper onto the court, incurring a technical foul.

This year, JBU teamed up with Kimberly-Clark for the second consecutive year to provide the Manna Center, a local food bank, with non-perishable food items as part of the annual food drive. Kimberly-Clark supplied 2,000 rolls of Scott 1000 toilet paper that will be donated to the Manna Center and 2,000 rolls of Cottonelle toilet paper for the toss. Spectators, in exchange for non-perishable food items, received a roll of Cottonelle toilet paper.

“Every year, the Toilet Paper Game is timed perfectly to anticipate the shortage food pantries experience during the holiday season,” Robyn Daugherty, JBU athletic director, said. “We’re thankful for the JBU fans who attended the game and brought thousands of non-perishable items. It’s because of the support of Kimberly-Clark and the JBU fans that we have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to our local community.”

With more than 4,500 canned food items donated over the last three years, the food drive for the Manna Center is part of the Sooner Athletic Conference’s “The SAC Gives Back” initiative.

John Brown University is a leading private Christian university, a member of the NAIA Division I, competes in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC). Arkansas’ top ranked regional university (U.S. News Best Colleges, 2018), JBU enrolls more than 2,500 students from 41 states and 50 countries in its traditional undergraduate, graduate, online and concurrent education programs.
