JBU, Kimberly-Clark Partner for 39th Annual Toilet Paper Game

SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (Nov. 2, 2019) – John Brown University’s men’s basketball season tipped off today at 7 p.m. at the 36th Annual Toilet Paper Game, powered by Kimberly-Clark, as the Golden Eagles faced the Crowley's Ridge Pioneers (Ark.) in the Bill George Arena.

After JBU’s first field goal, made by senior Quintin Bailey 48 seconds into the game, JBU fans tossed over 2,000 rolls of toilet paper onto the court, incurring a technical foul.

For the fourth consecutive year, JBU teamed up with Kimberly-Clark who donated 4,000 rolls of Scott 1000 for the game. Fans brought canned protein items to exchange for a roll of TP to toss and the other 2,000 rolls will be donated, along with the canned food items, to the Manna Center, a local food bank in Siloam Springs.

This year, JBU launched a “Double the Blessing” initiative, collecting financial donations for the iYES Foundation – a local non-profit founded by JBU alumni Simeon and Stephanie Hinsey. The donated funds go to the iYES Project Shelter initiative that will help provide shelter for those in the Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian in September.

“We are so thankful for another great Toilet Paper Game to kick off our basketball season,” Robyn Daugherty, JBU athletic director, said. "JBU, Kimberly Clark Corporation and our fans love being able to use this tradition to benefit our local community through the Manna Center."

With more than 7,000 canned food items donated over the last five years, the food drive for the Manna Center is part of the Sooner Athletic Conference’s “The SAC Gives Back” initiative.

JBU defeated Crowley's Ridge 90 to 56.
