John Brown University Hosts Annual Student Award Show

SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. (Feb. 29, 2016) - The John Brown University visual arts department will host the Arties on March 4 at 7 p.m. in the Berry Performing Arts Center. The Arties is JBU’s annual Oscar-style awards show that celebrates student excellence in the arts with awards distributed by the visual arts, music and theatre, and communication departments. Guest professional artists will judge the awards.

This year’s theme for the Arties is the mod fashion of the 60’s, and JBU “paparazzi” will photograph attendees on the red carpet in their wild attire.

The nominees are:

Graphic Designer of the Year: Daniel Leake, Gabi Marcy, Lindy Martin, Grant Willbanks

Photographer of the Year: Clayton Lyon, Lindy Martin, Grace Nast, Gabi Satola

Illustrator or Fine Artist of the Year: Kenny Crane, Caleb Crawford, Olivia Wheelock, Dana Zimmerman

Filmmaker of the Year: Walter Medrano, Emma Pell, Alec Soard, Connor Wilkinson

Rookie of the Year: Erin Coffin, Coral Bradshaw, Jessie Forand, Justin Howe, Ana Magallon, Megan Hansen

Digital Journalist of the Year: Max Bryan, Kacie Galloway, Aliya Kuykendall

TV/Radio/Web Broadcaster of the Year: Kaidyn Holbrook, Maria Velazquez, Isaac Weaver

Columnist of the Year: Samuel Cross-Meredith, Leah Guy, Becky Watts

Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical: Steven Hamilton, Joel Brown, Adam Sloter, Alec Warn

Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical: Mariah Makil, Abi Caskey, Jocie Morgan, Amanda Neely

Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama Production: Joel Brown, Steven Hamilton, Nathan Greathouse, Luke Merrick, Luke Mitchell
