John Brown University Partners with United Way NWA to Host Poverty Simulation
SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. (Feb. 24, 2016) – John Brown University and United Way NWA are partnering to host a three-hour poverty simulation designed to highlight the harsh realities facing the Northwest Arkansas community members with limited resources and opportunities. The event will take place in Simmons Great Hall on Tuesday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Today, nearly one in four children in Northwest Arkansas live in poverty, according to a fact sheet published by Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families in January. A poverty-level income for a family of three is $19,790 per year or less. The simulation is sponsored by Bank of America and free of charge, but registration is required.
