John Brown University Ranked No. 2 by U.S. News

SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. (Sept. 9, 2015) – John Brown University has been ranked No. 2 among Southern colleges in the upcoming U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges 2016 magazine. The ranking marks the 7th year in a row that JBU has been ranked No. 1 or No. 2.

“JBU’s continued top ranking among our peer colleges affirms the hard work and academic excellence of our staff, faculty and students,” said Dr. Chip Pollard, JBU president. “The U.S News accolade reflects the ongoing commitment to quality Christian higher education.”

JBU was rated against 97 other colleges in the South on peer assessment, freshmen retention rate, graduation rate, class size, student/faculty ratio, SAT/ACT scores, freshman high school class rank, acceptance rate and alumni giving. High Point University in North Carolina took the No. 1 spot this year. Last year, JBU, High Point and Asbury University in Kentucky shared the No. 1 spot. JBU was the top-ranked Arkansas school in the regional college category as well.

U.S. News also recognized JBU as a top-10 “Great School, Great Prices” institution in its category for JBU’s excellent quality-to-cost ratio, number of need-based scholarships and overall cost.

"The financial aid team works very hard to help students afford JBU," said Don Crandall, vice president for enrollment. "JBU's healthy scholarship resources, funded in part by donors who support the university, make it possible for many students to pay for a quality Christian higher education."

JBU’s great value helped attract a record-breaking incoming class this fall, Crandall said. The university announced last month that the new class, comprised of 364 freshman and 92 transfer students, represents 25 states and 17 countries and is 59 percent female and 41 percent male.

JBU’s online program was ranked 107 out of 296 schools evaluated nationally by U.S. News.
