Gumm Promoted to JBU Chief Marketing & Communications Officer

SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (Sept. 10, 2021) – John Brown University announced today that Julie Gumm has been promoted to chief marketing & communications officer. Gumm joined JBU full time in 2014 and has served as the director of University Marketing & Communications for the last four years.

JBU President Chip Pollard also announced the appointment of Gumm to the President’s Cabinet, an eight-person team that works with the president to set the strategic direction for JBU and oversee and implement planning, major initiatives and policies.

“JBU is communicating and marketing to a whole new generation of students and their families through a variety of ever-changing digital platforms,” said President Pollard. “Julie will contribute her innovative marketing insights, communications expertise and daily interactions with JBU’s primary audiences to help the cabinet make better decisions about how to tell JBU’s story most effectively.”

Gumm oversees the University Marketing & Communications team and is responsible for JBU’s overall marketing strategy, internal and external communications, crisis communications and university events.

“Every day I’m grateful to work at a university filled with colleagues that are passionate about educating and discipling the next generation of Christian leaders,” said Gumm. “I’m honored to contribute to this work and help tell the amazing story of JBU and its students, faculty, staff and alumni.”

Before her tenure at JBU, Gumm worked in marketing and communication roles in the corporate, public higher education, church and international NGO sectors.

Gumm holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in design thinking and innovation from JBU. She and her husband Mark live in Siloam Springs and have four college-aged children.
